Production blog - the beginning

 

            Hi welcome back to the blog. Hope everyone is having a great day! So far I have started the beginning steps of my music video with my group. While my group and I haven’t met up to start filming yet we are going to later in the week. Beyond the filming my group and I have done all our preparation for the music video. All there really is to do is to start filming. The planning process of the music video was both fun but also complicated. For one, as most groups do I created a group chat on messages for all of the groups members to communicate on especially since Lindsay is the only one in the group that isn’t in my class. So it makes it alot easier as people can ask questions and anyone can answer. 

        Moving on, it was fun deciding the different locations and imagining how the video will come to life. As the music video is surrounded around friendship and past memories the different locations represent various hang outs or times the friends have hung out in the past. For reference, typical hangouts spots here are usually the beach or the mall. So, reenacting these scenes portraying a close friend group that has grown up together will be an exciting project. As it will be genuine as my group is already friends so it will honestly be like one big hang out. However trying to plan dates was a small challenge. Everyone has alot going on at different times so it was difficult finding dates that works for all. For example Lindsay has dance classes most of the time. For me, my parents are divorced so my schedule is complicated especially since we are filming some scenes at my house finding the right dates are quite important. Another aspect of background work/planning was watching and analyzing the different music videos in our genre. It was interesting looking at the various elements of a music video and analyzing the different characteristics that create the r&b/soul genre.
