Production blog - picking final dates!

Image
Hi ya’ll hope everyone is doing well. Welcome to today’s blog! While my group hasn’t finished filming yet we have set a date. Which is to conclude filming this Thursday (October 26) since it is an early release day. Picking a date again was a bit challenging as we are going to Emerson house however she has plans in the evening. This means we will have to a rush a little to make sure we can get everything done. Also Kemora is traveling this week meaning we have to pick a date before she is gone. Lindsay also has a doctor’s appointment this week. So finding a date that works for everyone is challenging exactly as fifteen year olds with no licenses. When picking out the date I brought up some planning for the filming day. Such as referring to the storyboard. What scenes would my group be doing, what locations etc. Additionally I discussed what the group should bring with them. Such as different kinds of outfits since my group will be filming both a pool scene and restaurant scene, so t

Production blog - trimming, organizing, and adjusting!

Hi everyone today i’ve started some of the editing process! While we haven’t filming all the scenes entirely I thought to get an head start on some of the scenes I’ve already shot. I started  by collecting saving the videos into my photos. Since the scenes were recorded on Lindsay and Kemora’s phone. I saved all the clips into an album titled “Music Video”. Just to make things more organized since my camera roll is pretty large. I selected which clips I wanted to work on today. As I had a lot of footage from different scenes and takes. Then I i mported the media files into my video editing software. Which was Capcut and VLLO. I started by r emoving any unnecessary footage from the scenes.  I trimmed a lot of parts in between the scenes such as when the actors were waiting for their cue.  Helping to eliminate any awkward pauses or unneeded content . I arrange  the selected clips into a rough order that I thought would look best. Just to get a small idea of how it was going to look even

Production blog - lights, camera, action!

Hey everyone, today’s blog is an eventful one! Over the past days I’ve had a great time filming with my group. Starting on Monday it was an early release day at school so my group went home with me. I changed out of my school clothes and into shorts and a top and so did everyone else to fit the setting. The first scene my group and I shot was the car scene in my dad’s Range Rover. First Emerson took a picture of everyone in the car to put in our photo book, which was going to be the first scene. Then the actual filming started. One shot was an over the shoulder of Emerson turning on the radio. The other was everyone in the car having fun and laughing. After recording these clips my group and I walked over to the mall which is right by my house. I took them to the entrance with the Dillard’s store and we decided to film in there. Lindsay, Emerson, and I pretended to shop for clothes while Kemora filmed. After my group went to the H&M and shot more pretend shopping.     Followi

Production blog - setbacks and scouting locations

Image
Hey everyone! Since my last production blog there has been slow but steady progress. As mentioned in my last blog my group was supposed to film this week, yet my group and I did not get the chance to. This week’s location to film was supposed to be at the galleria. As the galleria is right by my house I have to pass by it to get home. However, as I was passing the mall I saw a lot of traffic cones and signs. There were even road lanes closed going into the mall. I could see they were doing some heavy road construction. While I couldn’t tell if the mall was open or closed I could tell it would be too difficult to try to navigate through it all. Following this I notified my music video group chat about the construction. My group all decided to reschedule for a different day when the road wasn’t as congested. Additionally, not every group member had rides to and from the mall, so it ultimately just worked out better for everyone to do a different day.             Nevertheless, beyon

Production blog - the beginning

Image
Hi welcome back to the blog. Hope everyone is having a great day! So far I have started the beginning steps of my music video with my group. While my group and I haven’t met up to start filming yet we are going to later in the week. Beyond the filming my group and I have done all our preparation for the music video. All there really is to do is to start filming. The planning process of the music video was both fun but also complicated. For one, as most groups do I created a group chat on messages for all of the groups members to communicate on especially since Lindsay is the only one in the group that isn’t in my class. So it makes it alot easier as people can ask questions and anyone can answer.          Moving on, it was fun deciding the different locations and imagining how the video will come to life. As the music video is surrounded around friendship and past memories the different locations represent various hang outs or times the friends have hung out in the past.

Research blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
Hey everyone welcome back it’s Mela! The song genre that my group and I selected was R&B and SOUL. The conventions for this genre's music videos are ideally the same. The music videos generally feature slow or fast, emotional beats, and often feature powerful lyrics and stories. Here's the research we did on different music videos in the R&B genre.  All the stars - by Kendrick Lamar and SZA. CAMS • Wide shot. • Medium shot. • Close-ups. • Extreme Close-ups. • Over the shoulder shot. • Eye Level shot. CLAMPS • Props: Ex. Phones, headphones, or journals. • Costume(s): Tend to be simple and usually corresponding colors. • Location(s): Old town, empty white field with panthers, black room filled with stars. SOUND • Non-Diegetic Sounds: The music video song. • Diegetic Sound. • Dialogue: Usually the intro to the music video before the song starts. EDITING • Slow transitions. • Reverse Shot. • Dim coloring. I feel i

My group for the Music Video

Image
Hey bloggers Mela here! So far I’ve done the first steps of planning for my music video. Such as picking my group and of course my song. For my group I am working with Emerson Botknecht, Kemora Whitelocke, and Lindsay White. They are all in my grade (tenth) and I have known them before the start of this project. I chose them because I know they are all very talented and can equally contribute to our project. For example Kemora is skilled at producing and editing. While Emerson is great at brainstorming ideas. Lindsay also is great at editing and has a good eye for unique ideas. Overall as a group everyone is hardworking and puts in the time to get things done. They all have great work ethnics. As well as they don’t submit work late which is important for a group project to run smoothly.        The song my group and I decided on was All The Stars by Kendrick Lamar and SZA. Released in 2018, it is originally from the Black Panther movie soundtrack. I myself  remember listening to i

Introduction to the Music Video

Hi, its Mela! I’m so excited to be back working on another project! I'm in tenth grade at Fort Lauderdale Highschool, go flying L's! I was born in Fort Lauderdale in January two-thousand eight. My zodiac sign is a Capricorn. The most important thing to me is my family and friends. My mom is from Trinidad and my dad was born in Tampa Florida. I love living Florida because of the mostly sunny weather, and I enjoy going to the beach with my friends. I grew up playing soccer for many years as a defender and also like to watch games. Additionally, I am a fan of volleyball and play with my friends often. I have two dogs one named Rocco a Neapolitan mastiff and one named Blu a yorkie. However, I want to get a cat as well in the future. My favorite subject is probably reading or writing, I have a passion for writing and sometimes write in my free time. This summer I had lots of fun and did many exciting things such as hanging out with my friends. I also got the opportunity to v
