Production blog - Final touches

Image
Hey bloggers, happy leap day! Today I will doing the rest of the editing necessary for my final task in Capcut. I started by adding the music onto the clips. I wanted to clips to follow the music which is why it was important to find the music as soon as possible. I toned down the music to make sure our dialogue could still be heard. Making sure to slow down the music anytime Lindsay (the killer) said her suspicious lines to give the audience a hint. My dad also has some quick dialogue that I had to add the hallway clip. Using the volume options I made it fit as if he was really in the scene. Next I worked on adding the transitions to add suspense for example adding lots of fade in and black screens to keep the audience engaged.    I also worked on the most important part which was adding the title orders. I switched to Vonts which is an app to add text to videos for this part as it had better variety of fonts. I added the text throughout the beginning parts of the movie where there w

Production blog - Finding the perfect songs

Image
Welcome everyone! With the start of my editing process it is essential that I pick out songs for my final task. My group and I decided the best way to pick out songs was for each of us to go on the web and look for royalty/copyright free music. For the tone of the final task I wanted the music to get progressively darker and scarier. As the movie progresses. Such as having an upbeat pop song in the beginning. Then a more neutral song and then at the end a dark and chilling song. To start the first task was finding an upbeat song to use for the getting ready and hallway scenes. Everyone went on platforms such as safari and youtube to find songs. I decided to look on Youtube. I searched Pop royalty free music. Looking through the results I clicked on different videos listening to each of them for a short bit. However none of them seemed to fit the clips the way I wanted. My group members were also sending sounds they found in the group chat but I didn’t like those either. However I happ

Production blog - Trimming and transitions

Hi all! As you guys know I finished filming last saturday. Now that filming has concluded I can start working on editing. The first part of editing is picking out what software to use. The options I had to use was Imovie or Capcut. Talking to my group I told them the options and asked which one they want to choose. Personally I wanted to use capcut as it was more modern and had much more abilities. However my group members wanted to use Imovie. But I explained to them why I rather use Capcut and they agreed. Capcut will be perfect for our film due to the variety of abilities it has. It ranges from transitions to music to text so it limits the different amount of editing apps I will have to use.     Firstly I started by importing all the clips. However since the clips were sent to me from Emerson the quality wasn’t the best. So, I asked Emerson to airdrop the clips to me instead and they came out much better. After reimporting them again I examined all the clips thoroughly. To get an

Production blog - Filming is done!

Hello bloggers and welcome back! My group and I have finished our filming process. I filmed today on saturday and filmed the car, restaurant and beach scenes. It started by my friends coming over around 12. While the plan was shot at the beach at night due to it being spring break Lindsay’s parents did not want her at the beach at night I had to make changes. I told everyone to bring the same costumes from before. Once everyone arrived my group and I changed into our costumes which was the sun dresses. Then my group first started in the car. In order to film the dialogue films I made sure the car was parked as it would be dangerous to try to act while driving. I took a short clip when my group was actually driving as a quick clip to add. When everyone arrived at the restaurant everyone walked in and got seated at a table. Once my group and I were seated. One of the biggest problems I faced was Emerson forget to bring her tripod. This made it harder as I had to rely on the group to

Production blog - Beyond filming

Image
Hey all! Welcome back! Following my last blog of filming I have been working with my group to get more done. After recording all the clips on my phone previously, I sent them all to the final task group chat with my group members. Then everyone discussed the clips. I thought they turned out great and so did Lindsay and Emerson. I wanted to start pre planning some of the editing process. Since my group took many different clips and angles. I asked my group if there was any clips that they were sure they did not want to include. Just so I could have an idea in mind. However since my group just finished filming the beginning scenes I will wait to delete anything until all clips are filmed. Furthermore the next step is deciding the next date to continue shooting. My group and I have yet to film the car, restaurant, and beach scenes. So I have been communicating with my group on dates and have planned to film on a weekend. The scenes take place at night so I am not able to film on a school

Production blog - Roll the camera!

Hello everyone! My group and I started filming today and got some notable progress done. Since it was a weekday and a school night. I was unable to film the night scenes at the beach/restaurant or the car scenes. However, my group was able to shoot the house scenes, car scene and ending scene. The filming started after school when my group members came home with me. Once my group and I arrived at my house everyone went inside. Just coming home from school, I decided to take a break before I started filming since it was a long day at school. My group and I changed and had some snacks. Once it was around 4 pm I asked everyone if they were ready to film and everybody seemed content to start. Emerson brought her tripod which made it easier to film. The first scene that had to be shot was the getting ready scene. To prepare, everyone brought their costume which was a sundress and changed into it. Expect for Lindsay since in this scene her dress has a red stain on it which raises suspici

Production blog - Preparing and checking out locations

Image
Hi all! Welcome back, throughout the past time since my last blog not many significant changes have been made filming wise. My group and I have not started filming yet however I have been planning, preparing, and researching the locations we are going to be using prior to filming. I started by informing my dad about our filming plan and making sure it was okay to film in our house and use the car. I have also discussed with my group the driving scenes. In the beginning of the plot there is a car scene which will show the characters driving to the restaurant. The decision that needs to be made is whether my friends and I will actually drive there by ourselves in real life since we all have our licenses or if my Dad will drive us. I asked my Dad whether ny group and I were allowed to drive to the locations at night by ourselves and he said he will have to think about it so that it still something being discussed. As for the other locations this past weekend I went to the beach and was

Production blog - Super bowl setbacks

Image
Hey everyone welcome back! Happy super bowl weekend! So behind the scenes my group and I have started planning out our final task. We arranged the location spots and had a date that we were going to start filming on. However speaking of the super bowl, nobody in my group was aware that this weekend was the super bowl weekend. The super bowl is a huge football game against the best performing two teams during the recent football season. It is celebrated across the country. Due to the occasion and extent of this special weekend we realized none of us will be able to meet to film. Everyone’s family are having their own super bowl parties and it wouldn’t be convenient if everyone in my group is unavailable. Not to mention locations will be quite busy with people going to eat and watch the game. Making it hard to film and overall easier to reschedule instead.     This being said my group has started thinking of a solution. I thought about next weekend however next weekend is when Emerson
