Production blog - Changes made from film review

Image
Hey everyone! Welcome back to another blog. In this blog I will be reflecting on my friends feedback in order to make changes to my video as mentioned in the last blog. There are a few small problems with our video that my friend Rowyn pointed out. First of all one of the sounds did not fit the overall aesthetic of the video and the plot. And secondly that some of the dialogue parts were a bit hard to hear at some moments due to the environment my group and I were in. In order to solve some of these problems, I went back into CapCut and started tweaking things accordingly. I looked back at the audio and I figured out that it honestly wasn’t right for the scene which is where Lindsay puts the poison in Emerson’s drink. I thought I just look on YouTube for something that would fit better because the audio I previously used was very upbeat and didn’t give off the right vibe for the scene. I needed to change it into something a bit more ominous to fit the tone. I was able to find a myste

Production blog - Film review

Hey bloggers! With the conclusion of my final task video I decided to have one of my friends peer view my video. It is important to get a second perspective. Especially from somebody not affiliated with the making or idea behind my video in order to get a genuine feedback on my project. I asked my friend Rowyn to watch my video and give me any feedback and first impressions. As she finished watching the video she said she enjoyed it. She claimed she liked all the different locations we had and the variety of shots. As well as the plot twist at the end. She was also a fan of the title and overall aesthetic of the movie opening.    However she always gave some helpful constructive criticism. She stated that the background music I chose for one of the scenes didn’t match the general vibe. I can understand where she is coming from. I wanted unique music to put in my video and my groups idea was to start the movie with an upbeat song and then slowly transition to something more ominous. Ro

Production blog - Final touches

Hey bloggers, happy leap day! Today I will doing the rest of the editing necessary for my final task in Capcut. I started by adding the music onto the clips. I wanted to clips to follow the music which is why it was important to find the music as soon as possible. I toned down the music to make sure our dialogue could still be heard. Making sure to slow down the music anytime Lindsay (the killer) said her suspicious lines to give the audience a hint. My dad also has some quick dialogue that I had to add the hallway clip. Using the volume options I made it fit as if he was really in the scene. Next I worked on adding the transitions to add suspense for example adding lots of fade in and black screens to keep the audience engaged.    I also worked on the most important part which was adding the title orders. I switched to Vonts which is an app to add text to videos for this part as it had better variety of fonts. I added the text throughout the beginning parts of the movie where there w

Production blog - Finding the perfect songs

Image
Welcome everyone! With the start of my editing process it is essential that I pick out songs for my final task. My group and I decided the best way to pick out songs was for each of us to go on the web and look for royalty/copyright free music. For the tone of the final task I wanted the music to get progressively darker and scarier. As the movie progresses. Such as having an upbeat pop song in the beginning. Then a more neutral song and then at the end a dark and chilling song. To start the first task was finding an upbeat song to use for the getting ready and hallway scenes. Everyone went on platforms such as safari and youtube to find songs. I decided to look on Youtube. I searched Pop royalty free music. Looking through the results I clicked on different videos listening to each of them for a short bit. However none of them seemed to fit the clips the way I wanted. My group members were also sending sounds they found in the group chat but I didn’t like those either. However I happ

Production blog - Trimming and transitions

Hi all! As you guys know I finished filming last saturday. Now that filming has concluded I can start working on editing. The first part of editing is picking out what software to use. The options I had to use was Imovie or Capcut. Talking to my group I told them the options and asked which one they want to choose. Personally I wanted to use capcut as it was more modern and had much more abilities. However my group members wanted to use Imovie. But I explained to them why I rather use Capcut and they agreed. Capcut will be perfect for our film due to the variety of abilities it has. It ranges from transitions to music to text so it limits the different amount of editing apps I will have to use.     Firstly I started by importing all the clips. However since the clips were sent to me from Emerson the quality wasn’t the best. So, I asked Emerson to airdrop the clips to me instead and they came out much better. After reimporting them again I examined all the clips thoroughly. To get an
